9-2-25   THOUGHTS

Paul uses the words  “all men”  twice in this reading.  That’s a tremendously large perspective.
The first case is concerned with our being able to live quiet lives in godliness and dignity.  The second shows us the God wants all men to be saved.  Titus 2:11   For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men,  2Pet 3:9   The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.  That Christ Jesus is our mediator between us and the One God must be absorbed deeply by us.  We are a “blood bought Church,”,  for Christ “gave Himself as a ransom for all,”.    God not only wants all to be saved, but also to come to the  knowledge of  the truth!

1Tim 2:1-6     First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,  2  for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.  3  This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4  who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5  For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,  6  who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

A Prayer:
Father, we know that You are over all things!  We pray that Your desires  will be done on earth as they are in heaven.  We pray that all men will come to a knowledge  of You and Your truth so as to be saved.  Help us to play our part in all of this.  May we love our neighbors,  being compassionate givers, and displaying a yearning for the souls of men.  Remind us in each breath, who died for our ransoming.  In our Savior’s name,   Amen.
